What is Leeds Beckett like?

Our introduction to campus locations and general environment.

Background

Leeds Beckett University has campuses in the city centre and Headingley (including Carnegie Pavilion and Stadium). There is a library, places to eat/drink, a gym, a Student Hub where you can access Student Services (Disability Advice, Wellbeing, Money Advice, etc) and teaching facilities at both sites.

Teaching sessions will take place in a variety of locations across our university. This could mean across both of our campuses and all buildings: City Campus and Headingley Campus (to include Carnegie Pavilion and Stadium). You can see our campus map here.

Our University has around 28,000 students from a wide variety of different backgrounds and cultures. Leeds Beckett also employs approximately 3000 staff, this means that campus can be very busy at times, particularly at the start of the academic year.

How could this affect me?

The campus is bigger than you might be used to at School or College and getting lost is common for new students and when timetables change. Becoming familiar with key buildings and locations may help you to prepare.

Practical tips

You can explore more of the campus via these virtual tours and images but it helps to be mindful that although these will give you a basic idea of what to expect from the University environment they are not necessarily the spaces you will be taught in as timetables are only confirmed at the beginning of each semester. It is also worth noting that the images and virtual tours were taken during quieter periods at University so do not reflect how busy spaces can become during peak times; it may be helpful for you to visit during term time in order to experience this.

You can attend a virtual open day, hear top tips from graduates and see virtual tours here.
